Welcome to Arundel Community Land Trust

Arundel Community Land Trust arose out of the 2019 Arundel Neighbourhood Plan. We form part of a national network of community land trusts.

What is a Community Land Trust?

Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are non-profit, community-led organisations dedicated to ensuring the availability of affordable homes and other community facilities - for example community gardens, civic buildings, pubs, shops, shared workspace, energy schemes and conservation landscapes.

What are we involved with right now?

Our first project was the provision of 27 affordable homes at Arundel Gate on Ford Road.

A partnership with the Norfolk Estate and Esquire Developments Ltd led to a high-quality new community-led housing scheme in our sensitive market town setting of Arundel.  The CLT selected Aster as the Registered Provider for the affordable homes.  The project delivers 90 new homes and biodiverse open spaces. Neighbourhood planning led by the Town Council shaped the project, including Local Lettings Agreements giving priority to people with local connections for the Affordable Homes. Over half the 10 hectare site is given over to open space, habitat creation and drainage features. A new bridleway links the South Downs National Park to the River Arun. New nature-based community projects on adjacent land, arise directly from the scheme.

What next for Arundel CLT?

Arundel CLT is interested in both bringing more affordable housing to Arundel, and in other projects that benefit the local community.
